Some are asking how soon (or not so soon) we expect a change at the top of Total Popular Music. Because it's not proper to answer a question with a question, the answer is two questions! How soon will BLURRED LINES slip significantly below 22,000 Total Plays Monitored? And how soon will Katy Perry's ROAR pass 21,000? Today, to set the pace for the new Super Sixty (due this afternoon), Robin Thicke's first TPM SuperHit (and our official "Super Summer Song of 2013") loses another 111 from Saturday, remaining well above 22K (by 726), 2775 ahead of new runner-up LOVE SOMEBODY/Maroon 5, and set for a sixth week at TPM Number One on the new weekly chart. LOVE SOMEBODY, +60, up for the week 3-2, is at its peak, and statistically can't go all the way to the penthouse, marking the first Maroon 5 hit not to do so at TPM since MOVES LIKE JAGGER ... CLARITY/Zedd with Foxes, +193 from yesterday, ends the data week to start the new chart week up 6-5, followed by SAFE AND SOUND, up today 7-6, as Bruno Mars' TREASURE slips 5-7 for the week (not up 5-4 as our PM30 chart projected!) The Capital Cities hit posts only a +42 airplay increase today, but has added 1049 for the week ... Despite major losses (-1839 for the week), Daft Punk gets lucky, and GET LUCKY doesn't lose last week's eighth position (yet!) It's thanks to "the TPM theory of relativity" (not to be confused with Einstein's) ... Katy Perry's ROAR has advanced 14-10 for the week, +2365 total plays from last Sunday, 291 of that just from yesterday to today, making the latest peg of that move (11-10) today ...
