Uitlizing Our Exclusive TotalsProjectionsMonitor

This listing reflects projected total monitored airplay at the CHR-Top40 and Hot Adult components of Total Popular Music.

A  RED rank number indicates a projected airplay increase of 300 or more total plays.

Not an "indicator chart" nor a "building chart" -- and definitely not a chart "representing the collective opinion of the publication's editorial board in ranking the current potency of commercial recordings as competitive radio programming attractions for mainstream CHR and hot AC formats" -- the TPM Projections Monitor is scientifically compiled utilizing our exclusive TotalsProjectionsMonitor™ -- incorporating current airplay data and trending stats.

The "Projections Monitor 30" is published Sunday nights, to be available for Monday mornings. This listing from Mark Harris Broadcast Consulting is both a projection of what the Top 30 on the next week's Super Sixty might look like, and a programming guide for the coming week for radio stations airing the Total Popular Music radio format to be proactive rather than reactive in scheduling music rotations. Songs expected or projected to move to TPM Recurrents the next week are removed from the Projections Monitor 30.

TPM ChartNotes: Using two different sets of trending criteria, we obtain a difference between numbers two and three in our projections. If trending as of May 12 continues, it is possible that all of the first three will remain in the same positions on the May 19 listing. However, using a combination of past week trending and the May 12 one-day variations, we are projecting MIRRORS to pass STAY for runner-up, as seen above. Similar conflicts (with similar solutions) are also in evidence with other close calls in the Top 10. However, in less positionally-competetive cases, the more conservative airplay gains/losses have been applied to the projections. Keep in mind that we are not ultimately seeking to project actual airplay totals so much as relative positions based on their overall airplay strength.
