Uitlizing Our Exclusive TotalsProjectionsMonitor

This listing reflects projected total monitored airplay at the CHR-Top40 and Hot Adult components of Total Popular Music.

A  RED rank number indicates a projected airplay increase of 300 or more total plays.

Not an "indicator chart" nor a "building chart" -- and definitely not a chart "representing the collective opinion of the publication's editorial board in ranking the current potency of commercial recordings as competitive radio programming attractions" -- the TPM Projections Monitor is scientifically compiled utilizing our exclusive TotalsProjectionsMonitor™ software -- incorporating current airplay and trending data.

The "Projections Monitor 30" is published Sunday nights, to be available for Monday mornings. This listing from Mark Harris Broadcast Consulting is both a projection of what the Top 30 on the next week's Super Sixty might look like, and a programming guide for the coming week for radio stations airing the Total Popular Music radio format to be proactive rather than reactive in scheduling music rotations. Songs expected or projected to move to TPM Recurrents the next week are removed from the Projections Monitor 30.

TPM ChartNotes: While there are notable differences, the Projections Monitor published May 12, projecting May 19, proved to be rather accurate. The first nine songs were listed in the exact order confirmed by the May 19th Super Sixty. Projecting May 26, for a number of reasons, now turns out to be somewhat trickier and more difficult. Sticking with our overall proven criteria and methodology from more than a year of testing, we obtain results that in some cases disagree with "gut feelings" that are the result of many more years of programming Radio Hit Music formats. Nevertheless, we are publishing the results provided by our TotalsProjectionsMonitor software which we continue to fine tune for more accurate projections. Also, as previously noted here, we are not specifically seeking to project actual airplay totals so much as to offer relative positions based on songs' overall airplay strength.

While we have no plans at this time to expand the published Projections Monitor beyond a Top 30 listing, we believe radio programmers might be especially interested in the first three positions below 30 on our projections for the May 26 Super Sixty. We are publishing that information below as a special one-time offering.
