'Somebody That I Used to Know' Tops 'Total Popular Music' 2012

The Number One song of 2012 on the "Total Popular Music Super Sixty Top TPM Hits of 2012" is SOMEBODY THAT I USED TO KNOW from Gotye with Kimbra, based on total airplay at the components of the "new mass appeal hit music radio format." SOMEBODY finished the year in the fifth position at our CHR-Top40 component, and second at our Hot Adult (Hot AC/Adult Top 40) component. At Top 40 Radio, the top song was WE FOUND LOVE from Rihanna with Calvin Harris, our eighth overall most aired song. Hot Adult Radio's most played hit was Kelly Clarkson's STRONGER (What Doesn’t Kill You), our number two hit of the year. By contrast, WE FOUND LOVE was 20th for the year at Hot Adult, while STRONGER ranked ninth at CHR-Top40. Our third overall most popular song of the year, fun.'s WE ARE YOUNG finished seventh at Top 40, and sixth at Hot Adult.
